This past week, the World Trade Center of Harrisburg hosted its 19th Annual International Trade Conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Reading, Pennsylvania. FTZ147 attended and featured an exhibition table, highlighting the benefits of foreign trade zones. Some of the other partners there included: Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development,
UPS, the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance, and Fulton Bank International Group. The morning’s keynote speech, came from David Hanson, CPA, CFA, CEO Fulton Financial Advisors and Clermont Wealth Strategies. He delivered an incredibly insightful review of the economy of PA as well as the outlook of the United States.
Breakout Sessions
The multiple breakout sessions after the keynote highlighted: Effective Strategies for Global Online Marketing, Global Trends in Managing Trade Compliance Amid Today’s Changing Trade Policies, GDPR: Are You Ready for the Most Important Change in Data Privacy Regulation in 20 Years?, and Fraud Detection and Prevention. These sessions highlighted key issues facing the exporting and importing communities. The Global Online Marketing session highlighted the need for SEO (Search Engine Optimization), using Google Analytics to track your metrics and learn about what strategies are working.
Panel Discussion
The event ended with a panel discussion highlighting local companies who export their products: Adhezion Biomedical, J.P. Gilbert Co., and Radius made up the panel. They used their real life experiences and knowledge about exporting to lead a discussion surrounding exporting as a way to take your company to the next level. From medical supplies to toothbrushes, they all found their market internationally to supplement their strong domestic presence.
